Volunteering in Uganda is a stimulating and provoking experience. Ssamba Foundation’s Uganda volunteer program enables you to absorb the fascinating Ugandan culture whilst sharing your knowledge and skills with the host communities.
Best Uganda Volunteer Program:
The volunteer projects will provide an unforgettable eye opening experience for a gap year, vacation, spring break, summer break or career break for groups and individual travelers. Like no other country, Uganda represents the changing faces of recent history. Behind the people's optimism and the country’s beauties lie the horrors and ruins of a dark and gloomy past.
However, Uganda is more than worth a visit - not just because of its awesome landscapes and its incredible bio-diversity. It is simply moving to see how the people overcome the nightmares of the past and how they fight for a normal, settled life.
What volunteer work in Uganda can I do?
Our projects are basically working with children, youth, women and communities in need. We’re looking for volunteers in Uganda who will contribute to projects in communities where help is most needed.
At a one-to-one orientation interview we’ll discuss your skills, experience and of course, preferences to ensure that you’re assigned to the right project.
Volunteers in Uganda are needed in a variety of project areas, including but not limited to childcare, administration tasks, community development assistants, environment conservation, sports coaching, English teaching and so much more
How long can I come for?
The Uganda volunteer program placements last either one month or three months and include a one-day arrival orientation. But you can come for as short as one week or two weeks. You’ll have the chance to travel at weekends but to make the most of this fantastic country why not leave some time at the end of your program to explore further afield!
Where will I be working?
Our Uganda volunteer program projects are community based. The majority of our volunteers are placed in Mukono although projects do also exist in other parts of the country.
Who will I be working with?
We place volunteers in existing projects, working alongside local people. Our Uganda volunteer program is essentially designed to provide independent experiences which promote integration with the local people. You may also be working alongside another international volunteer.
Where will I be living?
As part of our ‘Local Approach’, we believe that living with a local family is the best way for volunteers to become fully immersed into the local culture. You’ll be placed with a host-family like guest house, a short distance from your project. We will welcome you into our family and help you to settle into the local area. You will be living with other volunteers. Enjoying home-cooked food, sharing stories and life experiences and learning the local language will give you a unique and memorable experience.
Are there any weekend tours or Safaris?
You don’t have to choose between taking an adventure holiday and volunteering when you sign up to Ssamba Foundation’s best Uganda volunteer program.
Through our tours and safari desk, the Wanderlust Adventures, we arrange weekend tours and safari to all Uganda’s attractions. We have a list of activities and things to do while in Uganda.
