Volunteer Opportunity: Peer to Peer Melanoma and Skin Cancer Support
Position Summary:
Melanoma Canada is seeking compassionate individuals with lived experience as a melanoma or skin cancer patient or caregiver to volunteer as Peer Support Mentors. This role involves providing emotional support, guidance, and sharing personal experiences with others facing similar challenges.
Responsibilities:
- Connect with melanoma and skin cancer patients or their caregivers through telephone or email.
- Share your personal story and offer a supportive, non-judgmental listening ear.
- Act as a mentor, providing emotional support and guidance based on your own experiences.
- Maintain confidentiality and adhere to Melanoma Canada's policies and procedures.
Requirements:
- Personal experience as a melanoma or skin cancer patient or caregiver.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to empathize and provide emotional support.
- Completion of mandatory online training provided by Melanoma Canada.
Time Commitment:
2-4 hours per month
