Volunteer Opportunity: Board of Director, Volunteer Director

Discovery House Family Violence Prevention Society is dedicated to fostering hope and healing for women and children affected by family violence. We offer integrated wrap-around services, including essentials like relocation and clothing, trauma-informed counseling, and opportunities for community engagement.

As a member of our Board of Directors, you'll play a crucial role in governing Discovery House and shaping its future. We're specifically seeking volunteers with experience in areas such as Family, Corporate, or Governance Law, Accounting and Finance, Human Resources, Fundraising, and Board Governance. However, we welcome individuals from diverse backgrounds and experiences to apply.

Responsibilities include:

Setting the vision, mission, and strategy for Discovery House.
Understanding and upholding the fiduciary duties of a not-for-profit policy board.
Participating in the development of high-level strategies.
Reviewing and monitoring policies, financial statements, and the strategic plan.
Supporting the evaluation of the Executive Director's performance.
Promoting positive relationships among the Board, staff, and community partners.
Requirements:

Commitment to the vision, mission, and values of Discovery House.
Regular attendance at Board meetings and committee meetings.
Knowledge and skills in areas relevant to the organization's work.
Willingness to serve on committees and participate in fundraising and events.
Personal commitment to making an annual gift to Discovery House.
Term:

Board members serve a three-year term, with the option for one additional three-year term upon completion and Board approval.
