Mothercraft Ottawa is a multifaceted prenatal and parenting support program that improves the health and well-being of mothers and their children in the Ottawa area.

Mothercraft Ottawa’s award winning Birth and Parent Companion Program is seeking Birth Companion Volunteers.

This program matches vulnerable and at risk women and families with a trained Birth Companion to provide support during the prenatal, labour, postnatal and parenting stages. Birth Companions undergo a 20 hour training to provide our clients with reassurance, comfort, support and guidance as well as linking them with community resources and support services. The placement requires a commitment of 60 hours.

Interested applicants must submit an application, have an interview and complete the training before being matched with a client. We train in the Spring and Fall. Application submission is ongoing throughout the year.
