Calling all enthusiastic volunteers! The John Wood Community College Adult Literacy Program is currently seeking individuals who are excited about making a positive impact while enjoying the experience of helping others. This is a fantastic opportunity to contribute to English language learning and connect with diverse individuals from the comfort of your own space.

As a volunteer with the John Wood Community College Adult Literacy Program, you will have the unique chance to virtually meet with adults, either in one-on-one sessions or within small groups. The scheduling is incredibly flexible, allowing volunteers and learners to coordinate the best times and days for their sessions.

In this role, volunteers will dedicate approximately 1-2 hours per week to support adult learners in enhancing their English conversation and reading skills. No prior teaching experience is necessary, as comprehensive free training will be provided to all volunteers to ensure they feel well-prepared and confident in their role.

Matching is a priority for the John Wood Community College Adult Literacy Program. Tutors will be carefully matched with learners based on their skills, availability, and personal preferences. This ensures a productive and enjoyable learning experience for both parties involved.

Volunteers who are at least 18 years old and possess a high school diploma or High School Equivalency credential (GED) are encouraged to participate. The John Wood Community College Adult Literacy Program values diversity and offers in-person tutoring options for those who prefer a more personal approach.
