Description
On January 16, 2003, we’ll be hosting our Annual MLK Day Clothing Drive & Community Breakfast. It will be the first time we’ve hosted this in person since 2020. We are expecting more than 1,000 people of all ages and backgrounds to come together to pack and give away at least 1,500 cold-weather kits for homeless people, including sweatshirts, socks, hats, scarves and more. We will be distributing the clothing kits to shelters, transitional residences, schools, after school programs and other places to help people that are struggling in Los Angeles.

We’ll also have loads of other activities, including our very popular Civil Rights exhibit and our beloved Something in Common Project, where everyone is asked to meet a total stranger, find something that they have in common, and have their picture taken together. Plus, we’ll all be enjoying breakfast together, all to the sounds of an awesome band playing Motown and R & B classics. This year, we’ve even added an element of beautifying a local school with a very underserved population.
