Black River Harbor Campground

Black River Harbor Campground is located approximately 15 miles outside Bessemer, Michigan in Gogebic County (in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan). The campground is located up on a bluff where you can see the shoreline of Lake Superior from a few campsites.

The nearby Black River National Scenic River provides excellent opportunities for fishing from the dock or hiking along the river and viewing the five waterfalls. The North Country National Scenic Trail goes along the Black River and crosses over the suspension bridge and into the Black River Harbor Day Use Area. There is a short connector trail from the campground to the day use area. The access road and all campsites will be paved by the end of June 2022.

There are 40 family campsites (allowing up to 8 people per site).
There are 17 sites that are first come, first serve only.
There are 23 sites on the reservation system at www.recreation.gov.
These sites DO NOT have electrical, water, or sewer hook-ups.
Host will be provided a designated campsite, with electric and water hookups (but no sewer). A landline phoneline is available for the Host as well.
Sites can be used for tents and RV camping. Each site has a campfire ring, picnic table, lantern post, and paved parking spur. Vault toilets and drinking water is also available. The campground has garbage and recycling collection area.

Fuel, fishing supplies, firewood, ice, grocery stores, and restaurants are within 15 miles of the campground in Bessemer. If you prefer a little larger town, the Towns of Ironwood, Michigan and Hurley, Wisconsin are located right next to each other and are approximately 14 miles away.
