The Ukrainian Cultural Heritage Village has five special events each summer and we are looking for 1-2 Special Events Assistants to assist the special event coordinator with event day duties including:
Help with pre-event organization including:
• Creating signage
• Coordinating pre-event set-up
• Creating event day programs
• Organizing volunteer supplies
• Assist with preparing for other events
Help with coordinating on the event day:
• Coordinate final set-up on the morning of the event – including signage and pop-up tents
• Help coordinate community partners
• Work with the Parking Captain to coordinate parking team
• Assist staff members with various duties
• Assist with shuttle driving if required
• Work with the Volunteer Captain to ensure volunteers are signed in and assigned
Skills/Experience required:
• Excellent communication skills
• Ability to work independently
• Dependability and committed to your scheduled shift
• Problem solving skills
• Knowledge of the Ukrainian Village would be an asset
• Driver’s license
This would be an ideal role for a student looking to achieve leadership experience for their resume or for references/recommendation letters.
Special event dates:
Monday, May 23 – Celebration of Spring
Sunday, June 26 – Vintage Day
Sunday, August 7 – Ukrainian Day
Sunday, August 21 – Friends Ukrainian Music Fest
Sunday, September 11 – Harvest of the Past & Harvest Food Festival
The shift for each event day would be:
8 a.m. – 2 p.m.
The special event assistant would be required to come in prior to event day if possible to assist with preparing logistics for the event.
All volunteers receive a meal ticket which can be used for any food on sale at the event (such as Ukrainian food or other food vendors) and they also receive refreshments during the day such as water, tea, coffee, muffins, granola bars etc.
