You can play a vital role in the fight against cancer!

Relay For Life is a community fundraising event where Canadians across the country join together in the fight against cancer. Our generous volunteers are at the heart of Relay. By donating your time, you play an important role in helping your community join this global movement!

As a committee volunteer for the Canadian Cancer Society, you will be a community leader working towards raising awareness and funds for the fight against all cancers. Together with like-minded community members, you will be planning and organizing the Canadian Cancer Society’s Relay For Life event in Hay River!

We are currently seeking dedicated committee members to lead event planning and implementation in the following areas:
• Chair - responsible for providing leadership to committee and working closely with Canadian Cancer Society staff
• Community and Corporate Team Recruitment Lead (two positions) – Responsible for developing a participant recruitment strategy and promotion of the event.
• Food and Beverage Lead– Responsible for securing gifts and sponsorship to provide food and drinks at the event.
• Surviror Recognition Lead - Responsible for ensuring recruitment and acknowledgement of Survivors throughout event.
• Entertainment Lead – Plans and coordinates activities and entertainment for the event, and ensures activities run smoothly on event day.

Time Commitment:
• Participate actively in all committee meetings (2 hour meetings once or twice a month)
• Must be available all day on event day (June 2016 - date to be confirmed)
• 4-8 hours per month from November 2015 to July 2016
• Weekday evenings and/or weekends during the day

Qualifications:
• Proven leadership, communication and organizational skills
• Ability to motivate and lead volunteers and engage event stakeholders
• Ability to develop and execute strategy around event growth and potential
• Comfortable with public speaking, presentations and networking
• Project management and fundraising/event experience an asset

Other Requirements:
• Screening includes application form, 2 reference checks and interview
• police record check may or may not be required for certain roles
