Volunteer with JA and inspire elementary and middle school students to make informed financial decisions, prepare for the workforce, and understand more about business and entrepreneurship!

We are looking for volunteers with all educational and professional backgrounds who have practical experience to share with students and facilitate these interactive programs:

Our Business World – Grade 6: This program gets students exploring how businesses are created and what factors help them thrive. They learn about business needs and functions, and innovation with a focus on the entrepreneurial spirit in Canada.

Dollars with Sense - Grade 7: This financial literacy program is designed to help students explore their personal and unique relationship with money. Students learn about money management, budgeting and basic investing.

Diversity in Action - Grade 8: This work readiness program is designed to prepare students for today’s workplace where people with many differences collaborate to achieve common goals. The program focuses on increasing youth’s understanding of the important role diversity plays in enriching our personal and business lives.

Economics for Success - Grade 9: This program encourages students to reflect on the financial constraints of independence, the importance education, career planning and goal setting. Students define success for themselves, and are introduced to tools to assist them in achieving their dreams.

JA programs take place at local elementary and middle schools during regular school hours. The volunteer time commitments are varied and average 4 hours (usually over the course of one morning).

JA provides all of the program materials, presentation aids, and a 90 minute training session to help you prepare for the classroom.

Also, volunteers deliver programs in pairs for extra support!
