A smoke-free life is one of the most important ways of reducing your risk of cancer and protecting your health. The Canadian Cancer Society and EllisDon, a national construction company, have partnered together to provide a workplace cessation program called Build Smoke Free. This program assists construction workers who are less likely to access conventional cessation services and who are a higher risk group for tobacco use. The program consists of presenting to workers and finding out who would like to join one of 3 categories – 1 – Quitters, 2 – Quit Buddies, who assist quitters on their journey and 3 – Others, anyone who wants to support a tobacco free environment. All groups get to be a part of the contest period that runs for 30 days.

If you have an interest in health promotion and workplace wellness, this opportunity will give you a chance to work first-hand with stakeholders and workers to help build a tobacco free culture and improve the wellness of people working on EllisDon work sites.
