Description
Maison Chance is a springboard for orphans, street children, disadvantaged people and people with disabilities in Vietnam. We provide housing, healthcare, education and vocational training, and a place where the under-privileged children and the disabled can study and work, facilitating their rehabilitation and reinsertion into social life. You could say that the saying "Give A Man A Fish, Feed Him for A Day. Teach A Man to Fish, Feed Him for A Lifetime" is practiced here at Maison Chance every day!

Maison Chance Dak Nong Social Center is one of the first in Vietnam to introduce horse therapy to promote emotional growth for our beneficiaries. We now require volunteers to train our horses and prepare them for therapy sessions. Volunteer with us today if you want to make a real impact through creating something transformative!

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITY:
Train our horses by replacing their fear of humans with respect, trust and a desire to learn, to prepare them for equine-assisted therapy sessions with our beneficiaries.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Analyze our horses' behaviors to assess their dispositions and correct any behavioral problems such as head tossing, kicking, biting and dominance assertion
• Reward and train our horses to obey commands and give them confidence to express themselves safely
• Conduct immersion training for our horses to become comfortable around humans and unusual stimuli such as loud noises, and use discretion to determine horses' readiness for therapy sessions with our beneficiaries
• Prepare horses for basic classes and sessions with our beneficiaries, through positive encouragement and rewards for positive behaviors
• Develop or add on to a playbook or volunteer guide for future volunteers or local staff to help continuation of proper training and maintenance of our horses
• May work with an Equine Therapist to provide therapy sessions for our beneficiaries

REQUIREMENTS:
• Patient and seasoned horseman/woman experienced in natural horse training methods
• Able to communicate effectively with horses, our beneficiaries and local staff
• Self-driven work ethic. You should be able to work independently, enjoy taking initiative and seeing things through to completion

If you believe in our cause and would like to volunteer in Vietnam with us, we are constantly on the look out for self-driven passionate volunteers! Whether you can help us in fundraising, teaching vocational skills such as IT and SEO, web design, organic farming, care-taking, aqua/equine/animal therapy, or any other skills you possess that you believe would benefit Maison Chance and our beneficiaries, we would love to hear from you!
