Make a difference in your community for those affected by breast cancer. Join the Regina organizing committee for the CIBC Run for the Cure.

The Canadian Cancer Society (CCS) CIBC Run for the Cure brings together an incredible community of people that have either a personal connection to breast cancer or want to show their support. It’s an inspirational day that raises millions of dollars for CCS, the largest charitable funder of breast cancer research in Canada. CCS invests these dollars in the most promising breast cancer research that is leading the way in prevention, diagnosis and treatment and care, as well as funding Canada’s leading breast cancer patient support network, which works to improve the quality of life and the emotional support needed for those affected by this disease.

As a committee member, you will work collaboratively with a group of volunteers and remote staff to ensure the execution and success of the 2018 CIBC Run for the Cure. Once the committee is formed, the group will work together to determine which roles on the committee are best suited to each person (Exceptions apply to the Run Director position and the Volunteer Engagement Lead). Roles vary from 1km/5km Route Logistics Coordinator to Run Day Entertainment Coordinator to Registration Coordinator.

As a committee member you will attend committee meetings once a month and bi-weekly closer to the event. You will be responsibly for a series of tasks appropriate to your committee role. Members can expect to contribute 2-5 hours of time per week, increasing to 10-15 hours per week in the month leading up to the event.

Qualifications and Skills: Comfortable working in a group, self-motivated, strong speaking and communication skills, comfortable promoting the event and fundraising, strong writing skills, goal oriented, and organized.

Benefits to Volunteer: Experience with event planning, experience working with a group, opportunity to learn more about the breast cancer cause, creating a future where no Canadian fears Cancer, enhancing communication skills, and expanding personal network within the community.

Orientation and Training Plan: Committee volunteers will be trained by the Canadian Cancer Society CIBC Run for the Cure staff team and will have access to numerous online training tools throughout the campaign.

Recognition and Stewardship: An exclusive committee volunteer shirt and a thank you gift upon completion of the event. We will also provide committee members with letters of recommendation upon request.
