Do you like finding treasure? Then this gig is for you. Each week we go treasure hunting at the Edmonton Food Bank ( EFB) warehouse to find ingredients for our healthy meal programs and food bank. Once at the EFB, we grab a large cart, hunt through large containers for treasures like canned foods, meat, and dairy for our community programs at The Mustard Seed. If you like thinking about ingredients for recipes, are passionate about cooking and finding ingredient treasures, or just want to lend your muscles to help us load up the food, then this is an opportunity for you.
Ideally you have
1) Your own vehicle ( carry up to 300kg of food) and can treasure hunt on your own when necessary. Must be able to lift and carry maximum of 50lbs ( like a bag of potatoes)and carry boxes up and down stairs. ( If you don’t have your own vehicle, you are willing to drive with a TMS staff member )
2) Ability to work Tuesday and or Thursday time frame
3) Follow inventory procedures and maintain effective communication about time sensitive ingredients to ensure no waste
We offer:
- Training provided in food storage and food banking procedures
- An opportunity to help others eat healthy food
