Oakwood Education Foundation is a non-profit organization, just starting in July of 2020. After spending time social distancing, our President, Eesha Kurella, got involved in the issue of educational inequality, working with other nonprofits and spending hours researching. After seeing how deeply so many people were affected, she decided to start this nonprofit. This nonprofit is working towards providing free tutoring, summer and college preparation courses, and resources for families to utilize in their own homes cost effectively in hopes of bringing about equity in the distribution of resources in our system. In addition, this nonprofit is working towards using their outreaching abilities to inform the public about the issue through blog posts, social media, outreach campaigns, etc. At the moment, we are filing for 501(c)(3) tax-exempt status with the IRS and are looking for tutors who are willing to share their knowledge among others.
