Requirements for working with youth:
Available between the hours of 9:30AM and 12:00PM, Monday through Thursday (Don't worry, you'll be able to choose which days!)
18 years of age or older
Able to provide or obtain proof of a negative TB test from within the past four years, or a clear TB risk assessment from your health care provider
Willing to submit to a LiveScan background check
Excited about supporting the development of young learners!

Field Trips:
We are currently accepting applications for volunteers with weekday morning availability to participate in our field trip program, which takes place onsite at 826 Valencia during the 2016-2017 school year. The program happens Monday - Thursday from 9:30AM to 12:00PM. Each field trip welcomes approximately 25-35 students from local San Francisco elementary schools into our Writing Lab.

Storytelling and Bookmaking is our most popular field trip, in which students create their own story with the help of volunteers. Students collaborate as a class to come up with the setting, characters, and plot and then break away from the group to individually write their endings.
Volunteers like you support the students throughout the process, guiding them as they work through their ideas. Volunteer roles include that of a typist, illustrator, and crucial support roles. Each student --and volunteer-- leaves the field trip with a copy of the book.
