We need a very good social media savvy volunteer over 18 (no exceptions due to insurance) to help manage the social media for Catnip Casa. Please read the entire posting and be sure you have the skills, equipment, and time before you reply. This is a virtual position using Microsoft Share to upload and share social media photo files primarily for Facebook, but it may include Instagram, Twitter, Pinterest, and special projects occasionally.
Catnip Casa is an all-volunteer, foster-home-based organization. Small local organizations, like ours, are vital during these times. By keeping our organization alive, we free large shelters to handle the larger needs of the community and deal with emergencies.
Due to CoVid-19, the inability to have onsite volunteers creates a heavy load of physical work for the two main caregivers who live onsite with the special needs and senior cats that are lifelong residents. Job losses also mean we must compete harder for donations. To do that, we also need to be visible on social media. You can be our lifeline.
You must be able to use some type of software to crop photos, Canva to create cute frames or seasonal looks, think of cute captions, schedule posts on FB (again, FB is the major focus), and use tools like Buffer to schedule on multiple sites for special projects. We have lots of pictures and add more regularly.
Catnip Casa is small. It's not necessary to come up with a post every day, but we need to keep the momentum going. Our aim is at least every 2-3 days. Your schedule and how long/how often you work to get the work done is up to you. Do a little every week or spend a full day and build out a month. It's up to you.
Your help means more awareness, support, and donations. It allows Catnip Casa to provide quality care for the Catnip Casa senior and special needs kitties. It means money to pay medical bills and buy prescription foods. More donations mean we can also help provide emergency boarding for our partner community organizations and help fund more TNR in the community.
If you love social media and have good skills, this is an easy gig. Since it's virtual, there's no onsite training available. You need to have experience and know-how to schedule, post, and maintain social media sites for a very small business, animal rescue, or solopreneur. College students with appropriate social media skills and work experience are welcome.
The captions and stories must be fun, but professional. As a nonprofit animal rescue organization, our goals are to build awareness, attract new donors, and inform supporters about the daily life at Catnip Casa, as well as special events. At this time, no onsite work is available. Your information will come from talking to the caregivers, reading the website bios, email updates about fundraising, health issues, and more, and some experience with cats would help tremendously.
You must have the equipment and internet connection to do this work at home. While we are mostly doing FB posts, you must have good spelling and grammar. Supporters are not attracted to unprofessional work. We may be able to arrange a time for you to meet some of the cats in person if you are in Austin, Texas. If not, that's okay. There are also video files and lots of previous posts to give you a sense of their personalities.
Our prior volunteer for this position worked from a state on the east coast for a year and a half. Take a look back on our FB page. She did a wonderful job. This is the type of work and continuity we'd like to see. It is quite possible to do this without meeting the cats or being onsite. We'll work with you to make it a success for all of us.
Catnip Casa is on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Pinterest, and we have a website. We will conduct a reference check and/or background check.
