Being culturally responsive and trauma-informed is more important than ever! As our nation becomes increasingly diverse, it is essential that we are meeting individual needs. I developed a full course to help service providers working with underserved youth to be more culturally responsive and trauma-informed. This is essential so that we do not re-traumatize these children, but also so that we provide more positive and meaningful life experiences for them. Furthermore, it helps professionals to reflect and improve upon their own biases, to become more empathetic towards those they are serving, and to be more broad-minded advocates.

I have developed ~8+ hours of content (including a pre-course reflection, the course with question checkpoints and summaries, a live online Roundtable, and a post-course reflection). I have created this course for our tutors on Culturally Responsive and Trauma-Informed Teaching so that they can provide the most valuable learning experience for our underserved students. I have already tested the content with 8 tutors. Now I want to improve the delivery of this course by creating a series of interactive, web-based modules. The finished product will be used within our nonprofit to train future tutors. We will also sell the course to other service providers to raise money for our nonprofit. Our ultimate goal is to help provide economic, social, and emotional stability for the youth served, their families, and their community.
