"Experteering" is the word we coined for skills-based volunteering - the combination of the words expertise + volunteering. It is the act of volunteering your expertise, skills, experience, and time with organizations that need it.

Project Description and Impact:

Studio Coppre is a social impact brand in India working towards preserving and promoting heritage crafts by retaining traditional crafting techniques and designing contemporary wares of superior look and finish. Our products are meant to enhance homes and identities of people through their rich cultural narrative. Our aim is to be a sustainable social enterprise which brings metal and other artisanal craft and artisans of India into the mainstream by designing, marketing and promoting crafts to world markets, thus creating a sustainable livelihood for our stakeholders.

We provide livelihoods to 200+ artisans. We identify, train and work with different clusters (mostly in the metal domain). Recently we have also started working with handloom weavers and women along with artisans practicing basketry. We enhance their skills and create market linkages so that they have a source of sustainable livelihoods and lead an enriched life.

We address the need of bringing highly skilled artisans into the economic mainstream. The organization also promotes a culture-based development model that focuses on heritage and craft preservation. Coppre’s organizational intervention is multifold and spans product design & development, production, operations and finance and marketing.

Deliverables:

We are looking at an experteer to help address the requirement of the US market in the retail boutique sector through branding, marketing and sales. With Covid 2nd wave striking India we have been impacted in a very bad way with domestic sales wiped out, the only way to sustain our enterprise is the exports market. (Today though we export to the US it is very adhoc and not part of a comprehensive marketing strategy).

With this project, you will support the following deliverables:

Assist our team by creating an outreach plan for Studio Coppre;
Help our team by identifying companies in the USA buying from India (handmade eclectic products, in the home, wellness and sustainable segment);
Upskills and train our team by developing strategies and creating a list of potential organizations of the retail chains in the USA.
Other requirements:

Ideally the experteer should have experience in working with the Home and Decor segment in any of the retail chains in the US. Preferably with companies which have sourced from the international markets.
