Job Summary: The Volunteer Coordinator leads the effort to match the skills, experiences and expectations of Girls Are Powerful volunteers to available positions, and oversees the volunteers’ performance.
Responsibilities:
Determine the number and types of volunteers needed and for what roles
Develop position descriptions for each role
Create a volunteer structure that can be scaled in other Minnesota cities
Develop and implement a promotion plan to fill volunteer positions, including a monthly "Volunteer Update" on the Girls Are Powerful website
Interview candidates and manage volunteer schedules and opportunities
Plan for volunteer retention and replacement
Develop and execute on volunteer policies and procedures
Create a core "Volunteer Committee" to assist with all of the above
Facilitate Bi-Monthly or Quarterly Volunteer Check-in Meetings
Research and Implement background screening process of Volunteers
Post volunteer opportunities on multi volunteer boards
Assist with the planning and executing the volunteer recognition event (currently doesn’t exist)
Position:Lead and Co-Lead opportunity, Unpaid
Requirements: Passion for girls’ empowerment and personal drive to contribute to the organization’s success. Strong computer, written and communication skills are necessary for successful completion of duties. Experience in a key nonprofit organization role is desired as this individual will develop and manage all Girls Are Powerful volunteers. Volunteer Coordinator must also:
Possess skills at initiating innovative ideas and judging correctly what will appeal to target audiences
Exceptional writing ability
Ability to collect and synthesize information from diverse sources
Familiarity with Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and other social media sites
Journalistic experience a plus
