Join us as we gather together (safely) this holiday season to spread joy to others. Together we will be making festive holiday cards, putting together and decorating holiday kits for veterans & having a sock drive for those in need.

If you would feel more comfortable dropping off, we will be collecting donations of new packs of socks and holiday cards made by you.

WHAT: We have an in-person option and a dropoff option listed here:

In-person: Decorating holiday cards for isolated seniors, putting together holiday kits for Veterans, having a sock drive.

OR



Drop-off: Come by the location of the event and drop off donations of new packs of socks (any size) and holiday cards (instructions will be emailed after sign up.)

WHEN: Wednesday, December 1st: 5-7pm

WHERE: City of San Fernando (Exact location will be shared after signing up)

WHY: Spread holiday cheer to homebound seniors and Veterans who may not have family to share the holidays with. A simple festive card can bring the spirit of the winter holidays into their home along with a warm pair of new clean socks.

Project Caring Actions Responding to Elders, also known as Project CARE is an annual program that helps low-income older adults fulfill a holiday wish. It is a joint effort with the Los Angeles Foundation on Aging. In 2019, 3,500 gifts were shared with low-income older adults including our homeless neighbors! We hope to reach as much or more this year. Each gift will be paired with the cards you make.

The mission of the Veterans Home of California, or CalVets, is to provide the state's aged or disabled veterans with rehabilitative, residential, and medical care and services in a home-like environment. This mission acknowledges the tremendous sacrifice California veterans have made and recognizes them for their noble service to our nation. Each holiday kit made will be given to a veteran at CalVets.

REQUIREMENTS: RSVP volunteers - age 55 & over only.

ACCESSIBILITY: Plenty of free onsite parking.
