Event Description:

Be the "spirits" behind the Haunted Trolley for this special, late-night tour of downtown Raleigh's most haunted places! You'll be "haunting" different locations, dressed in historic attire. Volunteers will provide encounters for the riders who are taking a ghostly adventure through Raleigh's history and lore! It'll be a hauntingly good time!

Volunteer Duties:

"Haunting" the Historic Raleigh Trolley as "spirits" in historic costumes throughout Raleigh.

Impact:

Volunteers will have an opportunity to help visitors celebrate Halloween in a fun and safe way. For many families, the tour has become a tradition and we always want to make sure each year is even better than the last. This year, plans have been altered to ensure proper social distancing and the overall safety of our guests and volunteers while still keeping the spirit of the Haunted Trolley tour through more distanced encounters with "spirits" and reduced capacity on the trolley.

Work Environment:

"Spirits" will be located outside at different points in the city (Peace University and City Cemetery). They will be working as a group in these locations and can take breaks in between each tour (tours are at 6:45, 7:45, and 8:45). Each "spirit" group will consist of 2-3 people. Volunteers will have temperature checks performed before "haunting" begins, and be socially distanced from the other groups. The two locations are outdoors. No "spirit" volunteers or staff will be in close contact with tour participants.

Volunteer Requirements:

The minimum age to volunteer is 18 years old. All volunteers will need to complete a volunteer release form. Masks will be required.

Other Instructions:

We are supplying individually wrapped snacks, water, and costumes with some individually packaged makeup. Volunteers should prepare to bring a coat in case of cold weather and their own shoes (easy to move around in and dark colors preferable). Layers are always a good idea, with leggings/thinner pants and long sleeve shirts to go under the historic costumes! The tours and preparations start at the Mordecai Historic Park Visitor Center and parking can be found along Cedar St. next to the Visitor Center. Costumes will be picked up and taken to either a different building or the location that the volunteers
