Description
Do you want to directly help young adults with autism get a job? Job seekers with autism are among the many unemployed right now facing extra challenges and can use your help! Apply today at https://researchautism.org/navigator-application/

We are seeking professionals to join the Hire Autism Navigator program, which matches volunteers from all over the nation with young people preparing for job search. After a 3-4-hour training, Navigators will virtually support job seekers with either polishing their resumes and/or cover letters or practicing for job interviews.

All Hire Autism Navigators are expected to volunteer for 1-2 hours per week for 3 months. Navigators will work with each job seeker over a period of 4 weeks each. This virtual volunteer opportunity will take place over the phone and through web-based video conferencing platforms. The ideal volunteer will have a record of success in his or her own professional career, excellent verbal and written communication skills, a commitment to Hire Autism’s mission, and the desire to serve as a positive role model. Knowledge or life experience with autism is a plus in terms of understanding our job seekers, but it is not a prerequisite. Interested persons must have access to a telephone, Internet, a computer, and the capability for virtual communication.

Before training, we will ask prospective Navigators to schedule a brief phone call with an OAR staff member to answer any questions you may have and provide more information about our organization’s research and resources. Upon successful completion of the orientation and a satisfactory background check, Hire Autism staff will match the Navigator with a Hire Autism jobseeker who has specifically requested help.
