Boys and Girls Clubs Big Brothers Big Sisters of Edmonton and Area is the one and only amalgamated agency in all of North America. In late 2011, it became evident to us that we served the same youth and families within the same communities - it just made good sense to pool our resources and combine our efforts to better serve our clients.
Our Mission Statement is to facilitate the healthy development of children, youth and their families by providing safe places, positive relationships, services and opportunities to develop personal strengths and interpersonal skills that enhance their long term success.
A Graduation Mentor is a new mentoring program that will blend the Community Based and School Based programs to support the students at Eastglen High School towards high school completion. Mentors/Mentees can meet within the school or community; whichever is best to support the student.
The Mentor and the youth meet one on one for a couple of hours each week or every other week, depending on the circumstances, to engage in relationship building activities in a community or school setting. Mentors provide support to youth by listening, being an advocate, sharing themselves, establishing structure, highlighting strengths, and making the experience unique and positive. Schedules are flexible to meet the needs of the volunteers and youth.
